The painting of extraordinary beauty and attractiveness “Peach Tree in Bloom” was painted by Van Gogh in 1888. It was this year that the artist moved to the south of France, to Arles, and began a new, most fruitful period of his work.

Here Van Gogh is fascinated by nature, its bright colors and writes a great many masterpieces. "Peach tree in bloom", like other landscapes of Arles, the master writes from nature. He paints in the open air, under the cold and piercing March wind. The master is so passionate about work that he does not notice anything around.

Blossoming peach in the foreground, the canvas symbolizes the awakening of nature, announces the coming spring and warmth. Also, as Van Gogh himself admitted, this tree simultaneously symbolizes his favorite Asian culture, Japan. The artist puts all his joyful hopes, expectation of a joyful future and a positive attitude into the image of a blossoming peach. In the background of the canvas, a clearly drawn high fence of brown-red color is visible. It must be protecting the peach from the cold wind blowing from the sea.

Located in the south of France, Van Gogh painted many images of flowering trees, but this picture is considered the best. The master wrote to Emil Bernard that he was captivated by the beauty of Arles gardens.

Van Gogh, as a true impressionist, does not paint his picture in ordered, even strokes, but as always, it works haphazardly, relying on intuition. Smears imposed uneven, varied. His strokes, like his character, are indefatigable, violent and full of energy. Working on a work, Van Gogh initially tries to capture the essence, only after moving on to details and color design. The earth in his picture leaves a yellow-violet color, and the sky is spring-blue.

The painting is stored in the French Museum Krelller-Muller.
