Pablo Picasso is a great painter who painted many paintings. The artist created the best canvases after his 70s. He wrote quite a lot of images and, most interestingly, more of them were in different drawing styles. In the African period, Picasso presented a self-portrait, created on June 30, 1972, and this piece of art completes a series of self-portraits. The peculiarity of the drawing is that it is made with colored pencils. All portraits of the artist had a deep meaning, like this one, which was created 9 months before his death. All of them were connected with cases from the life of the creator and reflected his condition, mood, thoughts, etc. Pablo made his face a "laboratory" for formal experiments. This work of Picasso is referred to as the "Face of Death." After all, the author created a very unusual image, which he worked on for 3 months. Without pity, the artist turned his face into heavy geometric blocks, which greatly rude the face of the creator.

Pablo painted with very hard lines and therefore deprived the image of light, instead of it a dark eerie red background, which greatly enhances the flatness and expressiveness in the self-portrait. A serious and intense person looks at the audience from the picture. At first glance, you may not even notice that the vulnerable soul of the poet is hiding behind a cruel face. The creator said: “He who is sad is sincere”, perhaps for this reason that Picasso chose such an artistic style to convey to us his feelings, feelings, the ability of the viewer to feel the soul of the author.

Of course, the self-portrait, like the previous ones, shows us Pablo's dark eyes, but that self-confidence, pride, genius’s feeling is no longer visible. All that remains is the idea of the life of just a mortal man, as Picasso was. The artist wanted to “destroy God” with his drawing style, and therefore he was boldly self-confident in himself, but, as you see, it all ended with his self-destruction.
